Dr. Hornstein spent over an hour with us at our first appointment and explained everything really well. He was open to hearing and answering all of our questions and we never felt like he was rushing us.
Dr. Hornstein is a rare combination of expertise and compassion. Particularly in the world of endometriosis, it's difficult to find a good specialist and surgeon who is well versed in excision and ablation. He is incredibly knowledgeable about endometriosis and all of the available treatment options (both medical and surgical). He spends as much time as you need to discuss every option and explain the pros and cons of each. He provides his recommendation, but it is very much up to the patient to decide. He also gets to know you as a person outside of your disease. He operated on me last summer and what I remember most about the surgery wasn't the anxiety or pain, but how kind he was and how he held my hand while the anesthesia put me to sleep. I'll never be able to thank Dr. Hornstein adequately for his excellent care.
Dr. Hornstein is the best of the best. He knows what he's doing and delivers care confidently. Even if I get bad news, I'm happy because I know he has a plan in place that accounts for a number of twists and turns that I might experience (negative reaction to medicine, complications with surgery, etc.). He still takes time to listen to my concerns and questions, even if I bring up things I read. He doesn't have an ego like other doctors. He will consider my ideas seriously and make very thorough recommendations. I can't express enough how unbelievably wonderful it is to have a doctor like Dr. Hornstein in my life. Especially dealing with women's fertility and reproductive health issues. It's a very sensitive (emotionally and physically) area of medicine and he's the only doctor I have come across that is worthy of doing this work. I refer BWH to everyone I know with reproductive health issues. The care is unparalleled.
Dr. Hornstein was very thorough, going over all possibilities and scenarios. The steps we were going to take, and he asked if I had questions multiple time.
